Up for a Challenge (Zander and Professor Delgado)

[Lauren Delgado]

Lauren stretched her legs idly, awaiting the Nula kid she had offered an apprenticeship to. He was skilled physically and had a good determination- she could tell that from her first class this year. But whether he could be up for this challenge, whether he was willing to work hard enough, she didn't know. The woman slipped on her boxing gloves and stood in front of the punching bag, just watching it for a few moments with her guard up.

Mr Blood better not be wasting my time. she thought, before jabbing out her fist and punching the dangling weight in front of her harshly. Her gaze moved quickly to the door she had left open for him and wandered if he had gotten her owl, before she shifted her attention back to her own training.

[Zander Blood]

Zander dodged the punching bag when it came hurtling his way with a raised brow. He had jumped over the window after sprinting from his room where he found the message over his bed. He mentally rolled his eyes at whoever put it there cause everyone in the household knew he's mostly out in the day and won't be in until later. He was lucky he left behind his bag or he wouldn't have gotten it in the first place.

"Nice gloves, professor." He half smiled as he dodges another swing.

"Thank you." the woman smirked.

Lauren reached to the side and threw a pair of boxing gloves at him- they were new, and a dark turquoise blue- the Nula house colour. The name Zander Blood was stitched in white along the edges.

"Get them on. You do well today, you can keep them." She lifted her body so it sat on the edge of the wrestling ring in the middle of the gym and leaned against the ropes.

"You're here to fight, Mr Blood."

She smiled wryly at him.

"And if you want to fight, you have to get angry." the professor nodded to herself. "As your mentor and trainer, I need to know what gets you angry." She shrugged.

"So. Open up. What makes you go nuts?"

Zander caught the gloves with a sigh and his eyes glinted when he caught his name stitched to the side and he put them on easily enough, marveling at how they fit into his hands perfectly. He listened to Lauren as he strapped on the Velcro and by the time he was finished, he ad hoisted himself over the ropes and he was sitting astride on the ring.

"Angry?" Zander actually looked surprised. "I don't really know." He said honestly with a shrug. It was ironic how the professor wanted to talk emotions with him. "But if you're angry, I'd probably get angry in turn." Sometimes, the emotions of other people affected Zander.

Lauren shook her head.

"You've got to be able to control your own emotions, Blood, not rely on someone else's."

"What are you protective about? Who, even?" she stood in front of him and raised her fists.

"Guard up, Blood." she ordered quickly.
