Biography:
Christine isn't really the first person you would pick out to be your friend. She's smart and introverted, and does not like being disturbed by other people. Often times, she appears to be rather mean, insensitive and unfeeling, but that's her way of dealing with strangers. Yes, Christine definitely isn't a 'people person'. She cares fiercely about her sister, who is her only family left. Christine is really protective of Rosie, and is always fearing that something would harm or hurt her, both emotionally and physically.
She used to live in London from her birth until she was nine, and Rosie until aged six. Her mother was an Auror and her father was an unspeakable, and they both worked in the ministry before their death. While working on a breakthrough, there was an accident and her father died in the events that followed. The whole Johnson family was badly shaken after her father's death, and even more so when her mother died as well from the stress of making enough money to support the family and the overbearing grief of her husband's death.
After her mother died, Christine didn't know what to do afterward. She could find a cheap job such as delivering papers every morning, which would be just sufficient ti put bread into her sister and her own mouth, but she wasn't sure if she could do it for two years, when she'd finally be accepted to Hogwarts. She was a half-blood, so Voldemort's blood-purity laws wouldn't affect her. After a few months of desperation and confusion, she finally packed up her and Rosie's bags and left England, without the ministry noticing. By miracle, no one noticed her absence, or they just couldn't be bothered to stop her. After all; who would miss a simple 9-year-old orphan and her sister?
When they reached America, she immediately began searching for work to support her and her sister. She tried several jobs; paper-boy, shelf-stacker in a grocery shop, paper stand, but nothing was really enough to keep them off the streets and pay the rent, not to mention feed them. After a while, a woman noticed Christine and tried to get her to talk to her, but she wouldn't say anything. For a couple weeks, the woman kept coming back to check on her and her sister, until finally, the woman (who was revealed later to be a social worker) took her and Rosie to the orphanage. Marcie struggled, but it was really no use; the woman insisted she had to stay or she would separate her from Rosie. That made her agree immediately.
And after two years, Christine was accepted into Alecto Wizarding School. She had to leave her sister behind in the orphanage, but after two years of living there, she was sure that Rosie would be well taken care of as everyone, fellow orphans and staff alike, doted on her. She herself wasn't so lucky; most orphans thought her strange and the staff thought she was troublesome, but it did not matter to her as long as Rosie was safe.
